JOAS President elected to the AIPP executive council

AIPP just concluded its 6th General assembly which saw the re-election of its Chairperson Mr Famark  and Secretary General Ms Joan Carling. Joining them are 10 newly mandated Executive Council  (EC) members  from the 4 regions among them Mr Thomas Jalong of JOAS who represents the South East Asia Region and for the first time an EC member each from the Indigenous Youths and Women caucuses.

This General Assembly also saw the adoption of amendment of the AIPP constitution and By laws, acceptance of additional 15 new members to the AIPP family and adoption of the AIPP Gender policy. After the General Assembly member present deliberated on a two days workshop to finalise the AIPP strategic program and met with donors.

The 5 days meeting ended with a cultural solidarity night which all participants shared their cultural songs and dances. Well done AIPP, you have progressed a lot, but the journey is still far to go for Indigenous Peoples in Asia. JOAS will be there in every steps we go.. "Ngap Sayot!"
